You know summer has fully arrived when you start thinking about your wardrobe for the Fourth of July. This is one of my favorite holidays – I have so many great memories from childhood of painting flags on my cheeks, eating watermelon, and having fun outdoors. Growing up in an expatriate community in Mexico City, there was always a huge celebration at my school mid-June to celebrate the Fourth. There were carnival rides, mariachi’s, and an amazing barbecue hosted by the dad’s of the school. It’s fun to think about creating our own memories for this quintessential summer holiday.
Clothes are always fun to chose – easy and casual dressing works perfectly in the summer. I’m known to be slightly obsessed with stripes, so that makes it easy to figure out what we will wear. I want clothes to be easy to play in and not have to worry about getting dirty. Old Navy has become my go-to for clothes for the entire family. You can find fun, stylish clothing for such reasonable prices. It is now the only place I buy jeans for myself. I went for the more colorful choices this time – with a red stripe for Jackson and a red, white & blue stripe for me.
Now all we need is a nice picnic, a few flags and a good spot to watch the fireworks!
