The first week of December has come and gone – entirely too quickly in my opinion! With that being said, it’s time to get prepped for all of the holiday parties that await us at our house this season. Since it’s finally big enough to host more than four people. The holidays are in FULL effect and it’s time to do this thing with the help of Kate Spade of course! This season when prepping for the holidays and our holiday dinner party I wanted to find everything from one source – paper goods, fine china and gifts for guests that were fun and special that I could use again. Insert the help from Kate Spade. They have an amazing collection of fine china that is elegant with beautiful graphics, place cards that are unique, wine glass numbers that you can use at multiple soirees you host and I was even able to find gifts for everyone on my dinner party list.
When I sit down to design a tabletop I write out everything I’d love to do with the table (flowers, something unexpected, possibly a menu, centerpiece around the flowers, etc). This gets my “Let’s do this!” attitude into gear! Sometimes you have to turn to others to help you create your vision.
For the flowers, Natalie Bowen and I created an arrangement that was white, whimsical and had a bit of holiday flair to it. It was placed in a large mint julep style vase to bring out the silver tones of the Kate Spade signature china. I personally love the mix of anemones with the greenery. More details on this arrangement coming up this week for our Blooms in Season post.
For the menus, I had envisioned from the beginning doing it in calligraphy. I reached out to Laura Hooper to execute these gorgeous menu’s that are beautiful enough to frame. You can easily create something similar with beautiful ivory paper and a gold pen – it most certainly doesn’t need to be done in calligraphy, but showing guests what they’ll be having is an added touch that guests don’t expect when coming to a dinner party.
To add a bit more whimsy to the table I called in my dear friend Myka – she’s the master at creating anything you have envisioned in your head. I wanted to use different ribbons that would inspire guests because each piece could be used to wrap a gift. I personally love wrapping all of my gifts in white, silver and gold. And then to round everything out we paired a pewter runner and charcoal napkins from La Tavola Linens – my go-to source for all of my dinner parties.

This time of year is a time to be thankful for your family and friends that surround and support you through thick and thin. Celebrate each of them with a token gift or a little soiree – anything to show them that you care and appreciate them. All of these gifts below would make perfect ideas for anyone – I especially love these pencils with little sayings on them “From Me to You” and “Yours Sincerely.”
Now it’s time for you to pop open some bubbly, host your own party, and pick out a few gifts for your friends and family. The holidays go quickly, but just remember two things - enjoy yourself each moment and go into it with a “Let’s do this” attitude and it will all work out.
